The Thámien Ohlone Augmented Reality (AR) Tour is a location-based experience that brings Indigenous narratives to life on Santa Clara University’s campus. The tour educates users about the ongoing impact of colonialism on Ohlone communities, current revitalization efforts, how Ohlone culture has transformed over time, the way Ohlone culture is both complex and intersectional, and ways to support the present and future of Ohlone culture in their homeland.
When users open up the map, they will find a map with markers and navigation instructions guiding them to real-world sites on Santa Clara University’s campus. At these locations, users can activate augmented reality experiences that utilize images, 3D models, narration voiced by Indigenous storytellers, traditional songs, and more to immerse the user in these stories.
